Coronavirus self-test antibody study: Phase 1
We have invited you to help UK Biobank undertake urgent research on the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes COVID-19 by taking part in this new study; its findings will provide researchers with unique opportunities to investigate the long-term health effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection (“Long COVID”) and other health research related to COVID-19. The study is taking part in two phases, and you have been invited to participate in phase 1 which is running from February to March 2021. All remaining UKB participants will then be invited to take part in Phase 2 of the study, which will be starting in mid-March 2021.
The study involves doing a simple antibody test (the Fortress Fast COVID-19 Home Test) at home, which will tell you if it is likely that you have previously been infected with the coronavirus. If you agree to help, we will send you a finger-prick home-testing kit to find out if you have antibodies to the coronavirus. Taking the test is simple and quick to do and you can let us know the result via the UK Biobank participant website.
