The associations between genetic background, different exposures and cardiovascular diseases
Lay summary
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and is associated with significant physical limitation and financial burden. Despite advances in pharmacotherapy and management have improved disease outcomes in certain degree, the limited understanding of the underlying mechanisms of CVD from epidemiological, clinical, and genetic standpoints still hinders the development of better treatment options.
This project aim to elucidate the causal relationships between genetic background, different exposures and cardiovascular diseases and their related outcomes in a large population-based cohort study, and to explore the complex determinants for the incidence and severity of CVDs.
The estimated project duration is 3 years.
The findings of this study could deepen our understanding of the associations between genetic background, different exposures and cardiovascular diseases, and may aid in developing better diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
